The theme of, “Once Upon a Time” is that separating ourselves from issues will only worsen things. By building a wall and installing various security devices, the family thought that they will be safe from the violence and theft in the city. However, the actions they took to protect themselves was the cause of death of their beloved son.
Even though some might think that they are helping the situation by staying away, the real solution is to get involved. By separating yourself from the problem, you will only increase the severity of the issue and it will later end up affecting you.
